National Day of Prayer Event

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce is once again hosting Carroll County’s National Day of Prayer. The National Day of Prayer is on Thursday, May 6, 2021. Carroll County’s event is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. on this date at the Carroll County Airport.

The 2021 National Day of Prayer theme prays: “LORD pour out Your LOVE, LIFE, and LIBERTY.” Once again praying and proclaiming a promise of God is our theme verse,   2 Corinthians 3:17, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

Approximately 25 prayers will be offered by citizens of Carroll County. Music will be led by Mr. Henry Simpson, Minster of Music at First Baptist Church in Huntingdon.

Unemployment Rates March 2021

United States     6.0%

Tennessee         5.0%

Carroll County   5.7%

The lowest unemployment rate in Tennessee was in Williamson County at 3.3%, and the highest rate was in Lake County at 8.9%.

Carroll County Chamber Golf Tournament

The Chamber’s 23rd Annual Golf Tournament will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Carroll Lake Golf Course.  Tee-off will be at 12:30 p.m.  There will be no ceremonies prior to or following the tournament due to Covid considerations.  Only eighteen teams will be allowed to compete in the golf tournament. A box lunch will be available starting at 12:00 noon. 

United Way of West TN to Host West TN

Afterschool Network Virtual Conference

United Way of West TN will be hosting the West TN Afterschool Network Virtual Conference via Zoom on May 5-7. Registration is open and free to parents and caregivers, nonprofits, school systems, and other community advocates for school-age children and youth.

Through the Tennessee Afterschool Network (TAN) a West TAN, agencies can utilize a myriad of free resources and programs created and vetted by leaders and experts in their respective fields.

The webinar will take place on Wednesday, May 5 from 1-3 p.m. as will as Thursday and Friday, May 6-7 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. To register, contact [email protected].

Health Department

Covid-19 Vaccine Update

The Carroll County Health Department is now offering walk-in options for individuals to receive a Covid-19 vaccine for ages 18 and up. Appointments are still available but not required.

The Carroll County Health Department is open Monday and Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for Covid-19 vaccine administrations. For questions, individuals can call the Carroll Health Department at 731-986-1990.

Carroll County UT Extension May Marathon

UT Extension is hosting a May Marathon May 1 – May 31, 2021. You can walk or run a full or half marathon in 31 days.
