Celebrating Century Old Carroll County Businesses August 26

As Carroll County continues to celebrate its Bicentennial, the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce wishes to recognize and congratulate those businesses and institutions in our county that have been in continuous operation for 100 years or more.  The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce will recognize four century old plus businesses on Friday, August 26, at 10:00 a.m .at the McLemoresville Activities Center. 

 The four businesses to be recognized are: Bethel University, Carroll Bank & Trust, Centennial Bank and Espey Cotton Gin.

  Further ceremonies will be held in different locations throughout the county in the coming weeks.

 Celebrating New Chamber Business Owners

  • • Flair Forty Two – September 2

Morgan Beacham became the new business owner of Mockingbird Market on October 21, 2021.  She is now moving to a new location with the new store name Flair Forty Two.  On September 2nd, the Chamber will host a ribbon cutting at 10:00 am to celebrate the opening of her new business.  Flair Forty Two is located at 111 Church Street in Huntingdon.

Griffin & Powell Monument Works – September 9

On July 5, 2022 Drew Powell became the new owner of Griffin & Powell Monument Works.  Griffin & Powell Monument Works has been a family owned business since 1942.  Drew Powell is the fourth generation to own the business.  The Chamber will host a ribbon cutting on September 9th at 10:00 am to celebrate.  Griffin & Powell Monument Works is located at 21270 Main Street East in Huntingdon. 

 The Gift Grove – September 16

Brittany Gowan became the new owner of The Gift Grove on September 24, 2021.  The Chamber is hosting a ribbon cutting on September 16th at 10:00 am to celebrate her first year of business as the new owner.  The Gift Grove is located at 203 Court Square in Huntingdon.

 Tennessee State Championship Time Trial (Cycling) – August 20. The Court Square will be closed to traffic from approximately 6:00 am to 12:00 noon.  

The Tennessee State Championship Time Trial (cycling) has chosen Carroll County as the venue for its championship race.  The race will take place on Saturday, August 20th starting at 8:00 am at the Court Square in Huntingdon.  The race route will begin at the Court Square, proceed to Lexington Street, and continue on Highway 22 South.  Come out and cheer on the riders and show them what an amazing county we have!

Younglife Sporting Clay Shoot – August 24

Younglife Sporting Clay Shoot will take place at the Carroll County Shooting Sports Park on August 24.  Flight 1 will begin at 9:00 am and flight 2 will begin at 1:00 pm. This event is open to the public.

 Lifeline Blood Services in Trezevant – August 26

The Lifeline Blood mobile will be at Centennial Bank in Trezevant on Friday, August 26  from 12:00 (noon) – 5:00 pm.  Centennial Bank is located at 5420 Broad Street South, Trezevant.

 Sweet Tea & Southern Pickin’s Festival – August 26,27 

The Sweet Tea & Southern Pickin’s Festival will take place in McKenzie Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27.  There will be live music, rides, vendors, clothes, crafts, vintage finds, and more. Admission is free.

 When: Friday, August 26th from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm

  Saturday, August 27th from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm

Open Up the Heavens – September 11

Open Up the Heavens is scheduled to take place on September 11, 2022 at Paul Ward Stadium at Huntingdon High School.  This community event will start at 7:00 pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend.
