Calvin Thomas Martin 1924 – 2020

Mr. Calvin Thomas Martin, 95, of
Huntingdon, passed away Friday, March
27, at Jackson Madison County General
Hospital.
Private graveside funeral services were
conducted on Sunday, March 29, at 2
p.m. at Carter’s Chapel Cemetery. Bro.
Darrell Ridgely officiated the service.
Mr. Martin was born Aug. 14, 1924 in
Idlewild, to the late Seth Thomas Martin
and Millie B. Hayes Martin. He was a
welder for ITT Milan, a member of the
Carter’s Chapel Methodist Church and
served in the Army during World War
II. He loved fishing and coon hunting.
He was also preceded in death by four
brothers, one sister, and one daughter-
in-law, Judy Martin.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years,
Bertha Martin, two daughters: Karen
(Danny) Volner of Milan, Sandra
(Jimmy) Phillips of Lavinia; two sons:
Tommy (Linda) Martin of
McLemoresville, Gary Martin of
McKenzie; two sisters: Jewell Newman
of Huntingdon, and Ruby Nell (Mel)
Alexander of Milan. He also leaves
nine grandchildren: Sally (J.R.)
Thompson, Manda Martin, Seth (Kim)
Martin, Adam (Rachel) Naylor, Mark
(Kami) Naylor, Kelly (Brent) Martin,
Kayla Martin, Mitch Martin, Cody
Martin; and thirteen great-
grandchildren.
