Municipal Judge Beau Pemberton swore in incumbent Bruceton Mayor Bob Keeton along with aldermen James Butler and Jack Blocker at the beginning of of the board meeting Dec. 13 All three were elected in the Nov. 8 election to four-year terms.
Alderman Cliff Sturdivant was returned to his position as vice mayor since he was the top vote getter in the election cycle.
During the mayor’s comments he wished the town’s citizens a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year and to be safe in celebrations.
“The town is running smooth at this time,” he said.
Blocker recognized Lyons Restaurant for their hospitality during Thanksgiving. They provided some free meals within the community.
In new business, the aldermen passed a resolution to adopt the local hazard mitigation Plan for the town.
Every town in the county has adopted the plan that has been developed to assist in rebuilding the human and economic costs in the community as a result of natural disasters.
Blocker said while he was campaigning for office he heard several requests for updates and improvements.
Among them were paving, sidewalks, signs, and a splash pad.
The mayor said paving would take place in the spring.’
In other business the aldermen:
• Sold a small piece of property on Maple St. near the Senior Citizens Center to Adam Crews who plans to build storage units there. He paid $100 for it.
• Were informed by town recorder Annie Hand there will be Narcan training at city hall at 1 p.m on Jan. 25. The public is invited. Narcan is used to overcome a drug overdose.
• Were informed about a violation concerning an incorrect form being used for a Water/Wastewater report.
• Approved the yearly tank maintenance contract invoice for $55,753.
