Brooklyn Williams signs with Bethel basketball

Brooklyn Williams, star guard for the Huntingdon Fillies the past two seasons, signed with Bethel University on Thursday to continue her basketball career with the Lady Wildcats.

With both the Fillies and Mustangs basketball teams in attendance, along with many family and friends, Brooklyn signed in the front lobby of Huntingdon High School. Mark Vaughn, assistant coach for the Lady Wildcats, was there representing Bethel. Chris Nelson is the head coach for the Lady Wildcats.

Brooklyn spent her first two years in high school at Clarksburg and played for current head coach of the Mustangs Porsche McClerking before transferring and finishing her last two years playing for David Wilkins, head coach for the Fillies.

Brooklyn was a part of the 2019-20 Fillies team that won district champions, region runner-up, and sectional victories and made their third state tournament in a five-year span.

This season the Fillies finished 15-10 and were district runners-up and advanced to the second round of the region. Brooklyn earned all-district honors both her seasons at Huntingdon and is regarded as one of the best defensive players in the area. Coach Vaughn said Brooklyn will be a great asset for the Lady Wildcats.
