Blessing Box dedicated at the HMBC

On a recent Wednesday evening, the Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church congregation met in the pavilion for a dedication service.

The youth of the church dreamed of having a “Blessing Box” for those in need so they could stock and maintain.

That dream came to fruition when church volunteer carpenters got together and built a beautiful “Blessing Box”   with the new church logo on the side and back. It was placed on the south side of the  parking lot in front of the pavilion.

Then on Wednesday evening instead of meeting separately for Bible Study and Youth meeting, everyone met together to dedicate the “ Blessing Box” to the Lord and his work.

Those attending brought sacks of non-perishable food and other items to stock the box. Following the dedication, the youth filled the box with the donated items. They were so excited to have the “Blessing Box” and be able to maintain it themselves.

Everyone enjoyed the dedication service which began at 7 p.m. on such a beautiful evening. Chairs and tables were set up under the pavilion and fans were slowly moving the air above. As the sun went down a beautiful crescent moon graced the deep blue western sky which was a perfect setting.

The church’s new pastor, Bro James Keen and his children, Micah and Anna, provided the music for singing.

It was pastor James on the guitar, Micah on the bass, and Anna on the keyboard. Everyone joined in to sing some joyful songs.

After the singing, the pastor brought a dedication message geared toward the youth and just what the “ Blessing Box’ would mean to those in need in the neighborhood.

He encouraged the young people in their desire to do something for Jesus Christ and expressed his pride in their spirit of good will.

The group was then dismissed with a prayer of dedication by Johnny McClure. This was a special night for the church and especially the youth.

May the Blessing Box be a shining light in the community, a reminder of the church’s love for Jesus Christ and His work.
