Big Time Basketball Returns to Oman Arena in Jackson

Big time basketball is returning to Oman Arena in Jackson.The 2019 NAIA Women’s Basketball Invitational hosted by the Southwest Tennessee Tourism Association will be held November 29, 30, 2019 at famed Oman Arena in Jackson, Tennessee.

 Ten nationally ranked NAIA Women’s Basketball teams from across the country will be playing five games on Friday November the 29th and five games on Saturday the 30th. The games will be at 12, 2, 4, 6 & 8 p.m. All are ranked in the NAIA Top 25 Division I Women’s Preseason Poll released in October. 

The following women’s teams will be participating; (2) Campbellsville, (8) Westmont, (11) Shawnee State, (10) Vanguard, (9) Columbia, (16) Bethel, (5) Wayland Baptist, (1) Freed-Hardeman, (14) Mid America Nazarene and (13) Talladega.

Media Coordinator Dave McCulley said, “This will be without a doubt the strongest Classic in the country as all of these teams are nationally ranked. This group includes past NAIA Women’s Championship teams – Freed-Hardeman (2017) MidAmerica Nazarene (2016) and Vanguard University (2008).”

Bethel Coach Chris Nelson said, “We are excited to keep the relationship and tradition of NAIA basketball and Jackson going strong. A lot has changed over the years but the game and many people remain the same. This is a national tournament type setting and it is great atmosphere for our student athletes and schools. We are always thankful for the people that volunteer time and expenses that continue this storied tradition.”

4pm- (10) Vanguard v. (9) Columbia
6pm- (16) Bethel v. (5) Wayland Baptist
8pm –(1) FHU v. (13) Talladega

Saturday – November 30th
12pm (8) Westmont v (2) Campbellsville
2pm  (14) MNU v.(11) Shawnee State
4pm (10) Vanguard v. (13) Talladega
6pm (1) FHU v (5) Wayland Baptist
8pm (16) Bethel v. (9) Columbia
