Bethel/Eastside FCE learn about brain power

Eleven members met for the monthly Bethel/Eastside FCE meeting at the Mays home Feb. 9. The hostess for this month was Lacy Yeley, the extentsClubon agent. The devotion was given by president Gail Eubanks, who used Ephesians 4:29. Words of communication can be used to tear you down or build you up. The club Collect was read in unison and then the group moved on to roll call. In honor of Valentine’s Day roll call was answered with, “Who was your first crush or childhood sweetheart?” The minutes were read and approved.
Old business: The CVU forms in the new books were gone over. Reading lists were collected and a suggestion was made on how to share reading imfomation. You can go to the app store on your phone, tablet or other reading device and download the libby app, which allows one to read on-line books from the library. The only requirement is you need is a library card because you need to put in that number to access the app. In regards to the new charity, Thelma Rougou, checked on a list of items they need donated. The list included personal body hygiene products, such as, shampoo and conditioner, and lotion; baby things; and cleaning supplies. The blankets are still being worked on. A motion was made by Sue Smith to include Carl Perkins for the first month and Beating Heats for the rest of the year. It was seconded by Sue Alexander. Members will bring an item to each meeting. Spring Rally will be April 27 in the kitchen of the Carroll County Complex.
New business: Hostesses were assigned for each month this year.
The educational program was presented by Lacy Yeley on brain power. “The mind is like a parachute…it doesn’t work unless it is opened”. By regularly exercising our brain’s mental functions, one can build a stronger and healthier brain. Play mind games like cross-word puzzles and others. Learn something new every day.
Next month’s meeting is March 9th with Pennye Mays as hostess.
