Bat Cats sign McKenzie standout

FUTURE WILDCAT – Hayden Hixson signs to play Bethel baseball.

The Bethel Wildcat baseball program signed local standout Hayden Hixson Thursday. Hayden is the son of Eddie and Monica Hixson of McKenzie and will major in Education.

Hayden is a standout with the McKenzie High School Rebels where he was named to the all-district team this past season. He was a key component of the success of the Rebels as they made it to the TSSAA State Tournament.

Hixson is an Honors student at MHS.

Hayden feels his biggest strength is his versatility.

Coach Rusty Thompson commented, “We are always excited to sign a local student-athlete. Hayden is an exceedingly high character young man who has played at the high school and travel ball level. He is a part of a highly successful high school program and knows what it is like to win. He has a good understanding at the plate and is very versatile on defense.” Thompson added, “Hayden is the type of student-athlete we want here, and we look forward to seeing him progress on and off the diamond.”
