Bassmaster Junior National Championship won’t be at at 1,000 Acre Lake this year

It is official the 2023 Bassmaster Junior National Championship will not be returning to Carroll County.  The decision, made by Bassmaster, is due to their desire to have more boats fishing the tournament, according to Carroll County Chamber of Commerce president Brad Hurley.

They would like to have 120+ boats fishing the tournament.  All parties agree the Carroll County Thousand Acre Recreational Lake could support between 80 and 100 boats in a fishing tournament.

We have requested consideration of another tournament, and we are exploring other options with other fishing organizations to host their tournaments,” said Hurley.

While this is disappointing news, it is understood that the best days for the Lake are ahead.  This closes one door, but organizers are confident that another door will open.

“We have enjoyed a great working relationship with Bassmaster and wish them the best,” said Hurley. “Our decade-old relationship with Bassmaster and friends we have made from other states have been a source of great pride for all of us.”
