Anglin, Davis receive TSWA All-State honors

The Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) recently released its 2021 list of All-State high school basketball players, and that list included two players from Carroll County.

West Carroll High School’s Jalen Anglin was named to the Class A boys team, and McKenzie High School’s Savannah Davis was named to the Class A girls team.

A junior and the War Eagles’ top scorer this past season, Anglin helped boost the War Eagles to district and regional titles and a berth in the state tournament.

Anglin, who is the son of Jamie and Crystal Anglin, was named to the All-District and All-District 11A Tournament teams this year and was picked as the All-Region 7A Tournament MVP.

Davis, who helped guide McKenzie to a 26-2 mark this year and regional semifinal appearance, averaged nearly 15 points per game this season and finished with 403 points total. The Lady Rebels won the District 11A title this season.

Davis is the third MHS player to be named All-State in basketball, joining Anna Trull and Sevelte Gilbert. She is the daughter or Boo and Andrea Davis.
