Huntingdon Special School District board members extended Director of Schools Dr. Jonathan Kee’s contract by a year at the Jan. 18 meeting.
The original contract was to be out June 30, 2024. It was extended until June 30, 2025.
Board member Morgan Butler made the motion for the extension that was seconded by Brittany Foster with board members voting yes unanimously.
The updated Complaints and Grievances school board policy passed.
The policy says the board believes that differences of opinions arising in the course of employment should be resolved as quickly as possible and at the lowest supervisory level.
After receipt of the complaint manager’s report, the director of schools shall render a written decision within five days of the receipt of the report which shall be provided to the employee. If the employee is not satisfied with the decision, the employee may appeal the decision to the board by making a written request to the complaint manager within 30 days form the date of receiving the written decision from the director of schools.
School board members gave Kee permission to finalize the deal to purchase land behind the middle school for $50,000. Items that were passed on the consent agenda included:
• Approved budget amendments.
• Acknowledged Feb. 9 as Principal Appreciation Day.
• Acknowledged overnight field trips: Middle and High School Bands (UT-Martin Honor Band at Martin, Jan. 26-28.) and Middle School Band (All West Clinic, Memphis, Feb. 8 – 11)
• Acknowledged leave of absence for primary school enrichment teacher Donna Williams (Dec. 13, 2022 – Feb. 6, 2023.
• Approved ESSER funding for 6-month planning documents’ updates.
The next meeting will be Feb. 15 at 5 p .m.
