Kirsten Sass of McKenzie waives to all those who came out to the court square in Huntingdon on Thursday to see her off on her way to the 2021 Paralympic Games in Japan. Carroll County’s first-ever Olympic athlete, Sass is part of the U.S. Paralympic Triathlon Team and will be serving as partner and guide to blind paratriathlete Amy Dixon of California. The Paralympics will be held Aug. 24 through Sept. 5, and the triathlon competition will include a 750-meter swim, a 20-kilometer bike ride, and a 5-K run.
