License Violation

•Demarquis Deshon Anderson, 30, of Memphis was charged with driving on a suspended license (seventh offense), speeding, and expired registration after a traffic stop on September 8.

Officer Jeff Winberry witnessed Anderson’s vehicle traveling 63 in a 40 mph zone. Anderson was cited into Carroll County General Sessions.

Theft, Drugs

•Lloyd Sawyers, 55, of Winchester Street, McKenzie, was charged with theft and simple possession after a Spruce Street resident said he had a video of Sawyers taking his electric bicycle from his front porch.

According to the report, the victim went to Sawyers’ residence, saw the bicycle in the back yard, and retrieved it. When officers arrested Sawyers, they found a white crystal substance, three needles and a spoon with what was believed to be drug residue. He was transported to Carroll County Jail.

DUI, Firearm Violation

•Savon Marquise Stewart, 21, Paris, was charged with DUI, possession of a handgun while under the influence, and simple possession after a traffic stop on September 12.

Officer Kyle Beauchamp was running radar on U.S. 79 when he stopped a gray SUV for speeding. The officer determined Stewart was under the influence. The smell of marijuana was prevalent in the vehicle, and a search of the vehicle revealed a loaded handgun and a still warm marijuana cigarette, along with buds spilled all over the vehicle.
