4 Ways to Stay Comfortable at Work

Work can be uncomfortable for several reasons and cause more injuries than we might realize. However, you can prevent all this by making some easy changes. Whether you work in an office, control room, or elsewhere, there are plenty of easy ways to stay comfortable at work, so you can perform at your best.

1. Get Ergonomic Furniture

A major reason why we tend to be uncomfortable at work is due to the furniture we are using. Ergonomic furniture can change that in a big way because it’s designed with your health and wellness in mind. Some great options for ergonomic furniture include a chair with adjustable features and a standing desk. By using a standing desk properly and pairing it with other ergonomic furniture, you can reduce the causes of discomfort at work.

2. Wear Blue Light Blocking Glasses

Another obstacle we face at work every day is one you might not be aware of—the blue light that is emitted from the computer screens we sit in front of all day. Blue light can cause digital eye strain and other issues. Your best bet is to wear computer glasses, so you can reduce the eye discomfort you might be experiencing at work.

3. Take Breaks

In addition to wearing blue light blocking glasses, you should also take breaks away from your computer in general. For computer screen use, follow the 20-20-20 rule. This means looking away from your computer screen every 20 minutes by staring at another object 20 feet away, for 20 seconds. You should also go for a brief walk outside or find a fun activity to do for your given break time. Utilizing breaks are a great way to stay comfortable at work because it helps you stay refreshed.

4. Wear Comfortable Clothing

A final option you have to stay comfortable at work is to simply wear comfortable clothing. However, wearing comfortable clothes doesn’t mean wearing sweatpants to work. There are plenty of options out there for comfortable clothing that can align with your work’s dress code.
