1,000 Acre Lake expenditures questioned

Jan Ostiguy of Huntingdon addressed county commissioners on the wheel tax issue at the Monday night meeting.

She said there has been very little, if any discussion, on the matter. At one point, on Oct. 14, 2019, commissioners had agreed to meet with the Carroll County Watershed Authority. However, when the COVID virus struck, no meeting was ever held.

She said the commission back in 2003 did not follow the proper procedure outlined by the law passed in 1983 and outlined in opinions by the state attorney general.

“Why not?” she asked.

She brought to light some audit situations that she questioned during the meeting concerning an amount paid for a flag pole and a telephone bill.

She concluded by saying there is a need to know more about where the county’s tax dollars are being spent.
